PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's Taney Dragons may be out of the Little League World Series, but they have firmly established themselves as the area's newest hometown heroes.

The Taney Dragons took us on a ride.

Men felt like boys again with memories of Little League past.

"I say it's like Disney World for the kids that like baseball," said Patrick McCann Sr.

Each win by the ragtag bunch from Center City made many of us feel like we were part of the Cinderella Experience.

"We are trying to put the name Taney out there in the world and let the world know inner city kids can make a difference in the baseball industry," said Mo'ne Davis, player.

"For us, this is all about Philadelphia, these kids coming together without a lot of advantages and achieving unbelievable things," said Janet Sprague, parent.

"It's great. I'm glad people recognize it and Philadelphians take pride in it," said Joe Richardson, parent.

And achieve they did. They were two wins from calling themselves this nation's champion but even before the Dragon's final out, the humble, polite bunch had perspective.

"We are already champions and while we've won, it'd be nice to win even more," said Kai Cummings, player.

In the end, despite the teary, blood-shot eyes and the pain of the loss, these Taney Dragons stood tall and made us proud.

"Our dream was to get to Williamsport. When we got to Williamsport, it was a reality," said Erik Lipson Jr., player.

Parents, fans and players left Lamade Stadium with great memories of a team that inspired a generation of young baseball players and adults alike.
