The animal residents at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon found their own ways to keep cool in the extreme heat.

The animal residents at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon found their own ways to keep cool in the excessive heat.

Portland was under excessive heat warnings throughout the first week of August.

The National Weather Service predicted temperatures would exceed 109 degrees Fahrenheit on August 1, while temperatures reached a high of 105 degrees on August 3.

However, the extreme heat did not stop the animals from having a good time.

Video posted by the Oregon Zoo shows their male Asian elephant Samudra and polar bear Nora making a splash, while southern sea otter Eddie cooled off by munching on some ice chips.
