Police ID 2 killed in murder-suicide in New Castle County

Police are investigating a homicide in New Castle County.

GORDON HEIGHTS, Del. (WPVI) -- Police say a man shot and killed his ex-wife before turning the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in New Castle County.

The victims have been identified as 53-year-old Walter Shaw and 55-year-old Nicole Shaw.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Chestnut Avenue in Gordon Heights.

An investigation revealed Walter Shaw went to Nicole Shaw's home and a confrontation occurred inside.

Nicole Shaw fled the home through the back door, police say. Walter Shaw followed, shooting her before shooting himself.

Walter Shaw and Nicole Shaw were found suffering from gunshot wounds in the side yard of the home by responding officers.

Nicole Shaw was pronounced dead on the scene.

Walter Shaw was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Walter Shaw and Nicole Shaw have been divorced for 13 years.
