Arctic front grips region

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - January 20, 2008

Forecasters says highs in the Garden State won't get out of the 20s today and tomorrow. And brisk winds will make it feel even colder for those who venture outside.

The city of Philadelphia and Burlington County in New Jersey have declared a "Code Blue" emergency and are taking measures to ensure that people who need help are able to keep warm.

Wind chills will then drop to around zero -- or slightly below -- tonight and tomorrow night, when temperatures also will be in the single digits.

The bitter cold should leave by Tuesday, when temperatures are expected to reach into the high 30s in most areas. But rain or snow showers are also expected that day.
