Responding firetruck in accident

COBBS REEK - February 21, 2008

The fire started just before 6:30 a.m. on the 6200 block of Carpenter Street.

The view from Chopper 6 showed firefighters scrambling on ladders above the home and flames shooting out of the windows on the top floor.

Five people, including a mother and her 2 children, were inside the house when the fire started. All 5 people were able to get out of the house. Two men who were inside suffered minor injuries escaping the flames.

A fire marshal is on the scene investigating. The blaze apparently started on the first floor and quickly spread onto the second and third floors.

A firetruck responding to the fire was in an accident at 52nd Street, but officials tell Action News it did not affect their ability to put out the fire.
