Man shot to death in parking lot altercation

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, PA - February 23, 2008 It happened just after 2 a.m. on Wilmington Pike (Route 202) in Concord Township. State Police investigators scoured the parking lot outside McKenzie's Brew Pub this morning trying to find clues into the shooting of 30-year-old Andre Frederick.

Trooper John Sunderlin of the Pennsylvania State Police told reporters, "We believe there was an altercation. There was shouting reported. Right now it's under investigation what the altercation was about."

Frederick was gunned down as he left the bar. Investigators want to talk to a man captured on surveillance video leaving the bar with three women seconds before the gunfire erupted. Police want to talk to the women as well.

"Right now they are persons of interest. We do need to talk to them. We believe they do have information about the situation and the circumstances surrounding it," said Sunderlin.

Police say it appears the victim was unarmed. Dozens of shell casings littered the ground. Whizzing bullets damaged two cars at a dealership across the street. A sales woman there says McKenzie's is a fun place to hang out. That is until late at night.

"Apparently it changes at 1 a.m. Delaware shuts down and a whole different crowd comes up at 1," said Maria Jones.

Upon arrival troopers found one victim shot multiple times in the chest. He was transported to Crozer Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Police say there were a number of people around at the time of the shooting, but are still trying to determine what lead to the deadly altercation.
