Climber rescued after fall from cliff

TINICUM TWP., Pa. - April 23, 2008 The incident was reported around 5:30 tonight in the 100 block of Tory Road.

Crews endured the rough terrain of Ralph Stover State Park to rescue the climber.

Firefighters with the Point Pleasant and Plumstead Fire Companies methodically lowered the victim down a steep incline with cables.

They maneuvered him over downed trees and the Tohickon Creek.

Once across, the victim was placed on a stretcher and rushed to an awaiting helicopter. He was flown to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

According to one firefighter, the victim was rock climbing in the park with friends.

He was free climbing, which means he wasn't using ropes and other support.

He apparently lost his grip and fell roughly one hundred feet down the rocky terrain.

The victim's name was not released.
