Man jailed for picnic pipe bomb in Pa.

LEBANON, Pa. (AP) - May 28, 2008

South Lebanon Township police say 44-year-old Scott Garloff tells investigators he brought three bombs he made to the picnic Monday for entertainment. Chief Michael Lesher says Garloff set one off in a 55-gallon drum across the street from where people were gathered around the grill.

Lesher says the bomb sent pieces of the steel drum flying, striking Francisco Rodriguez in the head. He was taken to Penn State's Hershey Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Garloff has been arraigned on charges including manufacture of weapons of mass destruction. He's free on $10,000 bail. Lesher says the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is also investigating.
