Wall Street closes with slight gain

NEW YORK - June 12, 2008 Weighing on stocks was a turn in oil prices, rebounding from steep early losses. Yahoo shares slumped on news of an end to takeover discussions with Microsoft.

The Dow gained 57 points to 12,141.

The S&P 500 gained 4 points to 1,339.

And the Nasdaq composite rose 10 points to 2,404.

On the broader market, advancing issues topped decliners by a slim margin.

NYSE volume came to 4.5 billion shares, while Nasdaq volume topped 2.2 billion shares.

Light, sweet crude for July delivery rose 36 cents to settle at $136.74 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
