Authorities say Thomas stabbed Barrow inside her home on Atlantic Avenue around 11:30 last night, and in her last words police say Barrow told her sister that Thomas was the attacker.
Police say angry family members led them to Thomas today. Officers saw them beating him up at a used car lot and intervened.
Thomas is charged with murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He is being held without bail.
The two officers involved in the family battle with Thomas were injured and will be out of work for a while.
