DERRY, Pa. (AP) - August 2, 2008 Derry Borough police say Tom and Kathy Perry and their
5-year-old twin daughters went into the woods Thursday evening.
Kathy Perry called police on her cell phone after getting lost. An
officer drove to where they'd parked their car and turned on his
siren, hoping the Perrys could follow the sound to find their way
to safety.
When that didn't work, a search party looked for the family, but
suspended the search due to darkness. It was to resume at 8 a.m.
Friday with helicopters and all-terrain vehicles, but the Perrys
emerged from the woods before the searchers regrouped. Police say
they'd huddled together overnight for warmth. No injuries were
reported.
