Matt wins MVP!

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - August 7, 2008 The event has employees of local television stations and newspapers compete against employees of local radio stations.

This year, Matt O'Donnell got the nod as the starting pitcher. His battery mate (catcher) was Jamie Apody.

After giving up a triple on the first pitch, Jamie helped Matt settle down to keep the score low. He allowed his defense and his hitters to do the rest.

Final score: Television/Newspapers 7, Radio 2.

Matt was named the game's MVP for making an exciting play at home. A throw to third base was overthrown, and a runner began heading for home. Matt left the mound, caught the throw, blocked the plate, and tagged him out. He was overheard saying "not in my house!"

The event raised $47,000 for the Police Athletic League. To find out more information about programs the organization offers, visit the PAL website.
