Delaware State Police says a 32-year-old man was killed when his pickup truck overturned while fleeing from another accident scene.

The accidents happened about 2 a.m. Friday along U.S. Route 40 near Glasgow.

Police say 32-year-old Joseph Davis, who had addresses in Newark and Elkton, struck a vehicle that was pulling away from a traffic signal at the Pleasant Valley Road intersection. According to police, Davis immediately continued west and went off the road when he tried to make a turn at a high speed onto Rose Tree Lane. Davis was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.

Investigators say he had been drinking.

There was no damage to the vehicle that was struck at the intersection.
