Driver arrested after deadly accident

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. - January 15, 2009 Arriving units located two vehicles involved in the accident.

A 51-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the second vehicle, who fled the scene, was later identified as 29-year-old Robert Koch of Pleasantville.

The additional occupants of that vehicle were identified as 30-year old Michael Montgomery of Ventnor and 30-year-old Thomas Gruhle Jr. of Absecon.

Montgomery suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Kessler Hospital.

Gruhle was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner.

Koch was arrested at a Pleasantville residence on unrelated charges and he was subsequently charged with the following charges related to the fatal motor vehicle accident: leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident which resulted in the death of another, tampering with evidence, operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended resulting in the death of another and numerous motor vehicle violations.

Bail was set at $100,000.
