Flames could be seen pouring from the window as the fire escalated to three alarms.
Witnesses tell Action News they saw three children trapped on the roof, screaming for help. They also say two other children and a woman were trapped inside.
In all, eight people were rescued from the home, which had multiple apartments.
No one was seriously hurt.
Three firefighters were taken to the hospital for exhaustion.
An investigation into what sparked the blaze continues.
