Smart Super Bowl planning

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - January 28, 2009

And he's didn't break his piggy bank to do it.

Leonard credits a little bit of planning with getting some relative Super Bowl bargains.

He booked his flight to Tampa from Phoenix while he was still at the NFC championship game.

By calling early, Leonard says he got an airline ticket for $400 which later went up to $1,500.

He then waited a few days to book his hotel room.

Leonard figured disappointed Eagles fans would be canceling their reservations.

He managed to find a room for $300 a night, just five miles from the stadium.

Leonard says his Super Bowl trip will cost him about $2,000, that's including his game ticket, airfare, rental car and hotel.

He says he thinks that's pretty good.
