Downingtown boil advisory

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. - February 9, 2009

They believe the issue is because of the increase in temperature over the weekend combined with the snow and chemicals used in the most recent snow storm, with the snow melting in record time it may have contaminated the Brandywine Creek.

St. Martha's Manor, a Senior Center in Downingtown, is not drinking the water at all and is using only bottled water for consumption.

There is a Boil Water Advisory in a small section of Downingtown just as a precaution for 24 hours until the department finishes testing the water to see if any chemicals got into the water system. The advisory is for Williams St, Mary St and the 400 Block of Pennsylvania Ave.

Once all tests are complete and results are negative, the advisory will be lifted.
