An 18-year-old Wilmington man was injured in a shooting Saturday night. At approximately 6:50 p.m. troopers were called to the Gold Club on South Market Street for the report of a shooting.

When they arrived troopers found that the victim had sustained a gun shot wound to the left shoulder.

The victim told investigators he was visiting friends in a room at the Fairview Inn, located at 1051 S. Market Street. He said three males in the room, unknown to him, ordered him to the ground and demanded money.

The victim said at one point he got up and wrestled with one of the gunmen, armed with a silver handgun.

Refusing to give up money, the victim was able to escape. He ran outside, at which point one of the males opened fire, hitting the teen in the shoulder.

The victim ran into the Gold Club where one of the employees called 911.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for the wound. His injury is not life threatening.

Immediately after the shooting, the three black male suspects and one white female exit the room, and get into a dark colored Ford Explorer and flee the area.

Detectives have secured video surveillance from the hotel. However, police have not yet positively identified any of the suspects at this point of the investigation.
