'Werewolf rapist' gets 17-40 years

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - March 5, 2009 Twenty-one-year-old Vaughn Crews, of Donora, continues to maintain his innocence, telling the judge who sentenced him Wednesday, "I'm accused of actions I did not commit."

A Washington County jury convicted Crews of rape and several related charges in November.

Police say he handcuffed the woman and stuffed lingerie in her mouth as she prepared for work on Jan. 23, 2008. Police linked him to the attack with DNA.

The victim says Crews is a "coward that needs help."
