Student gets an egg-cellent scholarship

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) - March 16, 2009

The 17-year-old high-schooler competed in a contest where he had to launch eggs into a frying pan 48 feet away using homemade catapults.

He came closest to the target when his egg hit the side of the pan, winning him the $15,000-per-year scholarship to Merrimack's civil engineering program.

According to the Eagle-Tribune, the teen spent three hours after school every day for three weeks working on his catapult.

He says he'll probably take the scholarship.
