Pa. man sues friar, Wilmington Catholic diocese

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - March 17, 2009 In the suit filed Monday, the former Wilmington resident accuses the Rev. Paul Daleo, then a Capuchin Franciscan Friar, of sexually assaulting him when he was 16 and 17 years old.

The suit also claims church officials knew about Daleo's actions but did nothing to stop him.

An attorney for the Capuchin order says the filing was the first the order had heard of the allegations. Diocese officials said they had not seen the suit and had no comment.

This is the second claim filed against Daleo.

Child sex abuse victims in Delaware have until July 10 to sue their alleged abusers under the state's Child Victims Act.
