Suspect sics pit bull on officers

FELTONVILLE - April 24, 2009 The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday night along the 200 block of East Albanus Street.

Police on detail encountered a narcotics suspect who turned a pit bull lose on the officers as they approached.

One of the officers shot the dog; the dog died as a result.

The suspect ran inside a home and police prepared for a barricade situation.

Within a half hour, the suspect, who either injured his leg jumping a fence or when shot by officers, surrendered.

He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment.

Two other men were removed from the home and they are being questioned.

No officers were injured.
