Switch the power off at the breaker just to be safe and loosen the cover plate to your light fixture so it drops slightly from the ceiling.
Make sure that you paint or finish the medallion if you want to before you do the installation, because it will be easier before it's in place.
Most of these lightweight medallions can be hung with some heavy duty double stick tape.
Slip the medallion into place on both sides of the wiring and push it firmly against the ceiling.
Put the cover plate for your light fixture back in place and secure it with the mounting nut.
