A wide Spectrum of Father's Day gifts

PHILADELPHIA - June 16, 2009

Only five more days until Daddy-o's special day.

For those of you who are still looking for a gift - or thinking about starting to look - we run through a "spectrum" of ideas. We know, there's a whole industry out there hoping you'll give Dad a necktie this Sunday. But there's another way to honor Dad: with something he doesn't have.

The Phantoms played the final hockey game - ever! - at the Spectrum two months ago. The Sixers played one final match there a month earlier, and now there will be no more sporting events at America's Showplace. Dad can remember all that and more with the book "God Bless The Spectrum," now available in stores and online.

The Grateful Dead played the Spectrum a record 53 times. The book lists every single performer who ever sang or played there.

If Dad's a Sixer fan, a piece of the floor might be a cherished gift. And there are many less-costly choices.

Of course, there's one more way to help Dad remember the Spectrum - by taking him there. Many shows remain before the building is demolished.
