And a college student is to blame.
Now, N.C. State junior Joseph Carnevale is in trouble with the law.
Carnevale chopped up three orange and white traffic barrels from a construction site and created a roadside monster thumbing a ride.
Police took apart the "barrel monster" and have charged the 21-year-old with vandalism.
Carnevale is finding hundreds of supporters on his Web site and on Facebook.
He even has fans at the construction firm that owned the stolen barrels.
The company wants him to recreate the barrel monster.
