Officials: Taliban recruited children as bombers

Officials in Pakistan say security forces have rescued several children who they say had been forcibly recruited by the Taliban. They say the children may have been intended for use as fighters or suicide bombers. And they say there could be hundreds more of them.

A commander who says he's met with nine of the boys says they were "brainwashed and trained as suicide bombers." But he says the boys "seemed willing to get back to normal life."

But his deputy later clarified that it hadn't been determined whether all the boys were being trained as suicide bombers. The developments came as a suicide car bomber rammed his vehicle into a checkpoint in a northern Pakistani tribal region.

Authorities say the explosion killed two police and wounded five other security officials.
