It takes 2,000 volunteers two weeks to prepare for Musikfest.
"Everybody's prepping everything. They are running cable, wires, checking water lines, food storage bins, everything is checked and double checked today," Kim Plyler, a Musikfest worker, said.
It is the 26th year this city by the river is being transformed into a summer music Mecca. Hundreds of vendors spent the day setting up shop to sell festival goers everything from fine art to food.
The owners of la Mexicana Grille hope it's a busy time marked by stellar weather.
Among the groups appearing at Musikfest are Chris Issak, Blondie, and South African based Ladysmith Black Mambazzo.
"All different genres of Latin music, we have blues, jazz, folk, country, rock, virtually anything you want to explore and the neat thing is finding this group you've never heard of that comes from some place you've never heard of and sing wow they're fantastic," Musikfest President Jeff Parks said.
This will all be ready by the time the first beats of Musikfest 2009 are played tomorrow and the first of a million people who are expected to come here during the next ten days begin to show up.
