Teen convicted in 2007 murder of central Pa. man

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - September 12, 2009 Jurors deliberated for only two hours Thursday before convicting 18-year-old Emru Kebede of second-degree murder in the death of 65-year-old Ray Diener in May 2007. The Mount Joy teenager was 16 at the time of the crime.

In March, 20-year-old Abraham Sanchez Jr., of Elizabethtown was also convicted and was sentenced to death. Still awaiting trial are 23-year-old Lorenzo Schrijver, of Elizabethtown, and 22-year-old Robert Baker, of Mount Joy.

Kebede showed little reaction but told defense attorney Barry Goldman that he wanted to talk about an appeal. Goldman had argued that his client believed he and the others were only going to steal money and he did not intend to harm anyone.

Authorities said the defendants told them they targeted Diener's house at random.
