Police: Officer hurt when SUV hits cruiser

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - December 8, 2009

Police say the officer was responding to a domestic dispute call Sunday morning without emergency lights or siren activated when he stopped to make a left turn from Salem Church Road.

Just as a car traveling the opposite direction waved the officer through, police say 46-year-old Thomas Eagan of Newark pulled hit Ford Expedition onto the shoulder and passed several cars before hitting the cruiser.

The officer was taken to Christiana Hospital and was treated for a minor back and neck strain and released.

Eagan's 15-year-old daughter was treated at a hospital and released.
