Firefighters battle blaze, cold temperatures

PHILADELPHIA - January 2, 2010

Fire broke out in the basement of a three story house in the 2200 block of West Norris Street in North Philadelphia.

The fire spread to a house next door.

It took crews about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported.

Another stubborn fire kept Philadelphia firemen busy in Brewerytown.

Fire was reported just before 6:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of North 29th Street.

Smoke was reported on the second floor of a three story vacant house when firemen arrived.

Fire then spread to the first and second floor. It took firemen almost 90 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported in this fire.

The cause is under investigation.
