2nd shooter sought in Pete Lyde homicide

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - January 29, 2010 "He was my right hand man."

25-year-old Pete Lyde Jr. was the stepson of Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde who is the daughter of former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier.

On Sunday May 31st, 2009, Pete was working security at the Pleasures on the Ridge tavern along the 21-hundred block of Ridge Avenue in North Philadelphia. At about 1:15 a-m, two patrons at the bar got into an argument.

"Actually arguing over who was going to be served next you know a drink."

Police say the fight escalated and both men drew guns and fired at each other.

"These two animals were shooting at each other in a crowded room of people with no regard to life."

Pete was hit once in the chest, he later died at the hospital.

On September 2nd, one of the shooters, 32-year-old Rodney Evans turned himself in to police.

"I thought by now that he would have some information about the 2nd shooter but from the way I understand it he's not talking he's not being cooperative about the second person."

Pete's family has put together a 10-thousand dollar reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the second shooter.
