Overhead wire problem snarled Amtrak, NJ Transit

NEWARK, N.J. - February 2, 2010

Amtrak spokeswoman Tracy Connell said an NJ Transit train reported striking the wire in the south tunnel in Manhattan. Trains were forced to use a single track in the north tube until temporary repairs were made.

That caused delays for Amtrak trains along the Northeast Corridor. It also slowed NJ Transit service on the Northeast Corridor, Midtown Direct and North Jersey Coast Line.

Amtrak riders are facing residual delays of up to 20 minutes and NJ Transit trains are up to 45 minutes late getting in and out of Manhattan

PATH is cross-honoring NJ Transit rail passes in Newark and Hoboken.
