Michael J. Seiler, 34, of Milford, New Jersey, is charged with one count of Attempted Sexual Assault of a Minor (Second Degree) and one count of Attempting to Endanger the Welfare of a Child (Third Degree).
Police say Seiler is a teacher at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, where he is also an assistant soccer coach.
Investigators say in November, 2009, Seiler was in an online chat room with an undercover detective posing as a 13-year-old girl. Police say he asked her to touch herself sexually and to send him nude pictures.
Seiler was arrested Friday morning after a search warrant was served at his home.
Bail was set at $50,000.
Seiler faces up to 15 years in prison.
