Police say 42-year-old Christopher Sturmfels, of Middletown, was driving on U.S. 13 when his car was struck by an SUV around 4:30 p.m. Police say Mark Bednash, of Newark, lost control of the SUV and struck the car being driven by Sturmfels head-on.
Authorities say Sturmfels and his passenger, 47-year-old Michael Kriner of Newark, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Bednash was airlifted to Christiana Hospital. Police are still investigating the crash.
