Teen heads to court over 911 Turnpike hoax call

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - March 1, 2010

Nineteen-year-old Rodney Tanzymore was arrested last week at his Queens, N.Y., home and charged with causing a false public alarm. He is set to make his first court appearance in Trenton.

Police say the call that passengers had brandished handguns at a turnpike rest stop was actually placed by one of the teens in the van.

The incident raised new concerns over racial profiling by state troopers.

A teacher said at the time the students were frightened by the officers' actions.

It's not known if he has a lawyer.
