Elderly man terrorized in home invasion

ASTON, Pa. - March 28, 2010

It happened at a home on Colonial Way in Aston around 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

According to investigators a man approached the home through a field and, despite the fact it was obvious someone inside was up and alert, broke through a sliding glass door with a crowbar.

Once inside, the would-be burglar started rummaging through drawers with no regard for the occupant, who was watching basketball on TV.

When the suspect couldn't find anything, police say the man demanded money from the 94-year-old, who said he didn't have any.

That's when the intruder shoved the occupant to the ground, and fled through the broken sliding glass door.

Neighbors tell police say they saw a man fleeing the area in a champagne colored Chevy S-10 Blazer.

The suspect was also wearing a mask.

The 94-year-old man was not hurt and nothing was taken.

The brazen home invasion is the second burglary this month on Colonial Way. A few doors down two men broke into a home while the owners were away on vacation. Police do not believe the two cases are connected.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Aston Police at (610) 497-2633
