Arsonist strikes in 4 MontCo communities

LIMERICK, Pa. - April 28, 2010

Back on January 29, a vacant barn on Limerick Center Road was lit on fire.

Two months later, the storage facility at the Western Center for Technical Studies was set ablaze resulting in $200,000 in damage.

Earlier this month, 81-year-old Madeline Frisco became yet another victim.

The arsonist torched a storage shed in her backyard.

"Thank God it wasn't my house, what would I have done then?" Frisco said.

A grill, tractor mower, and some of her late husband's wood carvings are among the items destroyed.

She now worries the arsonist will return.

"When I come home, I hate to get close to the house afraid I might see something I don't want to see," Frisco said.

So far, no one's been injured in any of the arsons. They've all occurred in vacant buildings and dwellings, but investigators and people living in this area say it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Dave Brown lives across the street from the old Kinsey distillery in Limerick. He watched as the rundown building burned a couple of weeks ago.

"Firemen were all over the place; fire trucks and lights flashing," Brown said.

The Pennsylvania State Fire Marshall's Office, Montgomery County detectives and local fire and police are investigating, but so far they they've made no arrests.
