Suspects sought in violent Phila. store heist

PHILADELPHIA - May 5, 2010

It happened at 12:19 p.m. on Monday at Chester Jewelery at 5519 Chester Avenue.

Police say the owner was approached by a man and a woman who were posing as customers, asking about a cell phone and camera behind glass.

As the owner was showing them the items, police say the man pulled out a blackjack and began to hit the owner repeatedly in the head.

While he was being beaten, police say the woman then doused the man's face with pepper spray.

Still, the store owner managed to fight back and the suspects fled in an older model Pontiac.

They got away with a white touch screen phone valued at $150.

The store owner was treated for injuries to the face.

The male suspect is described as a black man, about 20 to 22 years old, 5'8" tall, with braided shoulder length hair. He had a medium build and was wearing a gray hoodie and a white t-shirt.

The female suspect is described as a black woman, about 20 to 22 years old, 5'5" tall also with a medium build.
