One dies in canoe accident in Burlington County

MEDFORD, NJ - May 29, 2010

Police say two men ventured out on Lake Taunton around 2:15 Saturday morning. The canoe overturned.

Friends sitting by the water noticed the boat flip and called 911.

An official tells Action News that one of the men managed to stagger to shore. He was able to survive the harrowing ordeal.

A 23-year-old man, identified as Jeremy Chan of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, was pulled from the water unconscious. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Marlton.
