Del. husband accused of killing wife

NEWARK, Del. - October 5, 2010

Michael J. O'Donoghue, 68, is accused of 1st degree murder in the death of his wife, 67-year-old Nancy L. O'Donoghue, in their home.

O'Donoghue called 911 just before 4 a.m. on October 4th, when he asked for the police because he had shot his wife.

O'Donoghue followed the commands of the 911 operator and surrendered to police in his home's garage. Nancy O'Donoghue victim was found in her bed with bullet wounds and a severe blunt force injury to her head. Police found a gun and a hatchet that they believe were used in the homicide.

Police are still investigating the motive for Monday morning's killing.
