Parenting: My Baby's Not a Baby Anymore!

January 18, 2011

I called him "Baby Kevin" for the first 2 years of his life. He now corrects me when I slip, "I'm big boy Kevin!"

After dragging him around to all of the girls' activities since birth, he finally has his own agenda.

Yesterday, my "big boy" was invited to his classmate's birthday party. It was a first! They made pizza and it was adorable. My older daughter was big enough to watch him (along with the other moms standing by) until I raced home from work. That was another first!

Now, I'm completely depressed! We're moving so fast ahead, with barely enough time to notice the milestones as they whiz by. I keep writing blogs on how I'm trying to learn to savor every moment. Truth is, I want to hold on to each moment with bear claws!

A wise mother once told me that with each new stage you get to learn more about your child and relate to them on a different level. True, but I think I may always long for a baby in the house.
