Water main break causes problems in S. Phila.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - January 25, 2011

At around 1:15 p.m., at least four residents reported at least four feet of water in their basements on the 200 block of Watkins Street shortly after 6:00 p.m.

Crews and residents themselves were trying to pump the water from their basements.

All residents along that block, approximately 60, are currently without water and will be so until the repair can be made.

Water officials say a typical repair of a 6-inch main takes 4 to 6 hours.

For those affected by floods, a PGW claims adjuster is being dispatched to assess the damage.
