He is one of the greatest engineers and imaginers of our time. His manuscripts shrouded in mystery, but now the secrets of Leonardo Da Vinci are about to be revealed.
"Here we will present the secrets of the last supper, I mean the real secrets," said Designer Mario Taddei.
The Franklin Institute is only the second city in the U-S to host "Leonardo Da Vinci's Workshop".
Families will be able to explore the mind of this complex Renaissance man through recreations of his famous drawings and designs.
"Some of these were built, many were never built before and for the first time....that some of these models have actually been created in anything more than paper," said Steve Snyder of the Franklin Institute.
Mario Taddei is one of the designers who came all the way from Milan to show us what they came up with after detailed studies of thousands of manuscripts.
Some of the models like the Harpiscord Violin, actually work, but others like the Aerial Screw, not so much.
"Sometimes we believe that all the machines of Leonardo do work, but it is not true. Leonardo says in his documents they are just experiments. You have to try and try again, fail and try again if you want to become a genius," said designer Mario Taddei.
Look, but don't touch. The real magic of this exhibit would have to be these touch screens where kids become "the genius".
"Imagine taking his amazing beautiful manuscripts and bringing them to life in 3D, and being able to manipulate them yourself, that's a thrill really for anybody," said Synder.
The exhibit is sure to keep you engaged. As for the secrets of the Last Supper...
"For sure, you can find something very strange that there is this little snake or dragon that is inside the picture, I don't show you, because you have to come here to see," said Taddei.
Leonardo's Workshop opens on Saturday and runs through May 22nd.
