Colts Neck mayor's wife charged with shoplifting

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - March 2, 2011

Police arrested Colts Neck Mayor James Schatzle's wife, Susan, after security said they spotted the 42-year-old attempting to leave the Freehold Raceway Mall store Friday.

Freehold Township Police Capt. James Lasky told the Asbury Park Press the merchandise, which included several purses and wallets, was valued at $1,305.

Susan Schatzle was issued a summons and the case was transferred to the Monmouth County prosecutor's Office.

The Colts Neck mayor released a statement saying he loves and supports his wife.
