Heavy ticket sales in 42 states and the District of Columbia have pushed Friday night's Mega Millions jackpot even higher, as frenzied lottery players line up for a chance at a fortune.
The jackpot is now $312 million, up from the initial estimate of $304 million. The game has been without a top winner since the February 1st drawing.
In the most recent Mega Milllions drawing Tuesday, 26 people won the second prize of $250,000.
The winner numbers were: 1-14-35-50-53 and the Mega Ball was 43
