Man killed in NE Extension crash identified

WORCESTER TWP., Pa. - April 7, 2011

Police said Kevin Bogert, 45, from Freemansburg was killed.

He was driving north on the turnpike around 4:30 p.m. between the Mid-county and Lansdale exits when one of his tires blew out, causing him to lose control.

Police say Bogert's truck spun out, hit the concrete barrier and flipped a few times, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Bogert died at the scene.

Two other passengers in the car, both from the Lehigh Valley, were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The accident shut down the northbound lanes of the turnpike for several hours during the evening commute.

State Police said nobody in the truck was wearing a seat-belt, and the accident is still under investigation.
