It happened at 10th and Cumberland around 1:30am Saturday morning.
Investigators say the gunman and another person fled from a car after being pulled over nearby. Police officers then chased them on foot.
During the pursuit, police say one suspect aimed a gun at the officers. That's when the officers shot and wounded him.
He is hospitalized in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.
Police are still looking for the other suspect. Both are facing a string of charges.
