Philly archdiocese names new victim advocate

PHILADELPHIA - June 9, 2011

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia named Leslie Davila the director of its Office for Child and Youth Protection on Thursday.

A grand jury report released in February charged two priests and an ex-priest with rape and a monsignor with endangering children by transferring dangerous priests to new posts.

Church officials suspended about two dozen other priests in the wake of the grand jury report.

The archdiocese says Davila will be in charge of aiding victims and providing oversight in the prevention of future abuse.

Davila says she will be a "vocal advocate" for victims of sexual abuse.
