WEST GOSHEN TWP., Pa. - July 11, 2011

Police say it was a 9-year-old child who called 911 at around 5:30 a.m.

Shortly thereafter, authorities responded to the scene along the 800 block of Steward Lane.

When officers arrived, they found a woman, identified as 37-year-old Mary Takacs, with a gunshot wound to the head, but responsive.

She was able to walk up to the officers with the 9-year-old child.

Her husband, identified as 53-year-old Michael Takacs, was found on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mary was transported to Paoli Hospital for surgery. Her condition is unknown.

Police say a 2-year-old was also in the home at the time of the shooting along with the 9-year-old, but neither was injured.

The children are now with family friends.

Police said Michael had moved out of the home about two months ago and was living in a nearby apartment.

Police recovered a firearm from the home and are investigating.
