Just before 5:00 p.m., the Newport police chief was outside his patrol car and clocked a speeding vehicle.
He waved the vehicle to pull over, but the driver kept going.
The chief got in his cruiser and found that the fleeing vehicle hit the front of a home at the intersection of West Newport Pike and Lindberg Avenue just outside of the Newport town limits.
The man and woman in the vehicle were evaluated at the scene and taken into custody for questioning.
The front porch of the home was damaged.
Nobody inside of the home was hurt.
